Affiliate disclosure

How Travelistory is paid, what it costs you, and what commission does not buy.

Travelistory earns commission on some bookings made through links on this site. That is the short version, and it is printed under the header of every page for the same reason it is printed here: you should know it before you press anything, not after.

How it works, mechanically

Most controls on this site carry a tracked link supplied by the travel brand’s affiliate network — Awin, Impact and others. Following one sets a cookie belonging to that network and that brand. If you then book within the window the brand sets, the network records that the booking began at Travelistory and the brand pays a commission out of its own marketing budget.

What it costs you

Nothing. The commission is a share of the brand’s margin, not a surcharge. Your quoted price, your taxes and your resort fees are exactly what they would have been if you had typed the brand’s address in yourself. If you ever find a price on this site that is higher than the brand’s own, that is a bug and we want to hear about it.

What it does not buy

  • Position. The front page is built in PHP from what is live and from the size of the discount the brand published. There is no paid placement field anywhere in this site’s data, because there is no mechanism to sell one.
  • A better write-up. Offers are described in the brand’s own terms. Nothing is upgraded because it pays more.
  • Immunity. A brand paying commission is removed from the site the moment its offers stop being real, exactly like one that pays nothing.

Where the disclosure appears

  1. A bar directly under the site header, on every page.
  2. A line immediately above every list of offers, and above the offers on every brand page.
  3. A note beside every control, naming the travel brand’s own domain and saying it opens in a new tab.
  4. Every outbound link carries rel="nofollow sponsored", which is the machine-readable form of this same statement.
  5. The footer of every page, and this page.

The standards this follows

The US Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides require a material connection to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, close to the claim rather than buried in a footer. Awin’s Publisher Code of Conduct and the IAB UK Voucher Code of Conduct v4.0 require the same thing of voucher sites. This site treats all three as the floor and not the ceiling.

Not advice

Travelistory does not sell travel, take bookings, hold money or act as an agent. It is a list of other people’s offers. Your contract, your payment, your cancellation rights and your complaint all sit with the travel brand you book with. Travel insurance and eSIM offers listed here are the insurer’s or operator’s products, not recommendations, and nothing here is financial or insurance advice.

Questions about any of this go to hello@travelistory.com.
